About LaserSkin Specialist

Who are we?

Laserskin Specialist has been the Gold Coast’s #1 destination for all things skin and aesthetic since 2008. We really mean it when we say ‘we know skin’! Our current owner, Candice, took over the business in 2017, and brought with her qualifications as a Beauty Therapist, Laser Technician & Cosmetic Tattooist. She has since expanded her team to include other experienced therapists who also really love what they do!

However, it’s our passion for customer service and satisfaction that really sets us apart. Our goal is to ensure all our clients have the best possible experience and absolutely love their results. We want to build a lasting relationship and ensure you trust us for all your skin, beauty and aesthetic needs.

Why choose LaserSkin Specialist?

There are hundreds of clinics on the Gold Coast all promising incredible results! There are a few key differences that set us apart.

What training has the team had?

Our therapists have all completed a diploma in beauty therapy as well as courses and advanced accreditations based on the treatments they are performing – this could be cosmetic tattooing, laser hair removal or skin needling.

Although we already have plenty of experience and knowledge, our goal is to continually learn and improve. The skin industry is fast-paced and there are constant new advancements that we want to be at the forefront of. You’ll regularly find our team attending seminars and training days to ensure we are delivering you the latest in dermatological advancements. If there is a treatment that we believe can help you achieve your skin goals, we’ll know about it!

Preparing for treatments

WHY ARE CONSULTATIONS SO IMPORTANT?

Consultations allow us to get to know you and your skin! We will take the time to discuss your concerns, desired results as well as your current skincare regime, lifestyle factors, treatment preferences, downtime requirements, budget and more.

We always recommend a consultation prior to your treatment plan, so we can determine the best options for you and ensure you are optimising your results from the very first treatment!

Our consultations also allow us to prescribe suitable home care products, as some preparation with active ingredients may be required before commencing treatments.

If you would like to book a consultation and your first treatment in the same appointment, we have our discounted Signature Introductory Facial treatment available for new clients on their first visit only, saving you $92. Simply let us know when making your appointment or book online here.

HOW MANY TREATMENTS WILL I NEED?

The number of treatments needed will depend on the concern you are treating.

If you have no major concerns but your skin is dry, dull or dehydrated, up to 3 treatments may be recommended to get it back on track before commencing a maintenance regime. For concerns such as acne, pigmentation, uneven texture or scarring, you may need 6-10 treatments to see a noticeable improvement. We will be able to give you an indication of how many treatments you may require during your consultation.

It is also important to note that treatments every 2-4 weeks are recommended at the beginning of your treatment plan to gain a better result and then onto a maintenance regime every 4 weeks, to ensure your skin is functioning optimally. Your maintenance treatments will assist with cell turnover, barrier function, collagen and elastin production and targeting new concerns as they arise, before they become harder to treat.

WILL I SEE RESULTS AFTER ONE TREATMENT?

Your skin may look and feel brighter, smoother, calmer and more hydrated after your initial treatment. We hope you walk out and notice that you are glowing!

However, to see a reduction in more complicated concerns, multiple treatments will be needed.

HOW DO I PREPARE FOR MY TREATMENT?

If you are brand new to the world of skin, you may be required to prep your skin with cosmeceutical products. This will ensure your skin can tolerate the products used in our professional treatments.

Otherwise, you just need to arrive at the clinic 10 minutes before your appointment to fill in the required consultation forms and ensure you are relaxed and ready for your treatment!

WHY DO I HAVE TO USE CERTAIN PRODUCTS BEFORE MY TREATMENT?

Our cosmeceutical range of products are home-strength versions of the products we use in our professional treatments. Active ingredients are potent and may cause irritation if you use something too strong too quickly. That’s why we need to build up your tolerance before going in with professional strength treatments.

It’s a bit like stretching or building up your base fitness level before trying any advanced exercises at the gym! It will help to prevent any damage from occurring and ensure we can achieve the best results.

Post-treatment care

WHAT AFTERCARE IS REQUIRED?

Your aftercare will depend on the treatment you have had. Generally, it will include things like:

  • Avoiding active ingredients for a short period
  • Avoiding sun exposure and being extra vigilant with SPF
  • Avoiding heat/sweat/swimming for a short period

These instructions aim to minimise downtime and ensure it heals as quickly as possible. Your therapist will provide you with more information at the time of your treatment

WILL THERE BE ANY DOWNTIME?

Most of our facial treatments don’t require any downtime. However, treatments such as high strength peels, skin needling and IPL may induce some redness, swelling and shedding. This can last anywhere from a few days to a week, depending on the intensity of your treatment. Your therapist will advise you of any downtime prior to your treatment.

CAN I GO OUT IN THE SUN AFTER TREATMENT?

It’s best to minimise sun exposure for a week or two post-treatment. SPF should be part of your daily skincare regime, particularly after professional treatments as they increase UV sensitivity.

CAN I USE PRODUCTS ON THE AREA AFTER TREATMENT?

Your therapist will advise which products you can use after your treatment. While chemical exfoliants, vitamin A and vitamin C are commonly discouraged immediately after treatment, you will usually be able to continue with a gentle cleanser, hydrating serums/creams and SPF.
